Professional Alternative is seeking a AIX Subject Matter Expert for our end-client in NoVA.  Must have a bachelor's degree and be clearable to public trust level.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provides high level expertise across AIX, Unix operating systems and IBM computer platforms. 
• Provides advances technical knowlsdge and analysis of highly specialized applications and operationa environment, high-level functional systems alysis, design, integration, documentation. 
• Responsible for consulting/coordination with application database teams and other database support teams to troubleshoot historical and real·time and production and development database performance problems.  
• Based on collected performance data, provides tuning recommendations for both database config and application queries to remove bottlenecks and improve overall application performance.
• The person selected will work with a team of other operating system, network and storage performance experts to cover end<to<end application performance troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills:

• Must have working experience with virtualization in the AIX environment.
• Must be working experience with IBM pSeries. 
• Must have extensive experience in AIX, UNIX and IBM operating system products.
• Additionally, candidate should be capable of: troubleshooting historical and real-time database bottlenecks.
• Provide recommendations on database modifications to improve application performance; assist the team in isolating application performance issues to the correct sub-team (DB, as, Network, SAN)
• Develop and drive database performance data collection tool architecture
• Participate in rotating on-call for after hours database performance analysis
• Work independently and with vendors to stay abreast of performance related changes and improvements
• Provide risk assessment for internal database support teams on potential database parameter changes.

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelors degree and 9 years of related IT experience
• (NO substitution of education/experience)
• ITIL Certification Preferred
