Crime, Violence, and Justice Research Analyst, Masters level

The Crime, Violence, and Justice Program at RTI is seeking a research analyst based in New York City to work on research and evaluation projects in RTI International’s Crime, Violence & Justice Program. Research projects will focus on one or more of the following areas: 1) courts and corrections; 2) policing and homeland security; 3) violence and substance abuse prevention and surveillance; and 4) behavioral health services research and special populations. This postion will be locared in the New York City office.
Responsibilities:
• Project management
• Develop and implement data collection tools and procedures
• Build and maintain data files and develop data file documentation
• Conduct data analysis using SPSS, STATA or other statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, M-plus)
• Search and review published and web-based information sources and literature
• Develop literature reviews for research reports, proposals and journal manuscripts
• Draft methods and results chapters for research reports and journal manuscripts
• Assist in proposal preparation
• Prepare progress reports and monitor project budgets
• Manage project timelines, files, and communications
• Field data collection may be required: interviewing, site visits, intervention observation
• Data management may be required
• Some travel may be required
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree (MA, MS,MPH, MPA, MBA) with 1 year of prior research experience
• Strong quantitative skills, evidenced by experience in applied statistics using SPSS, SAS or STATA
• Data collection, analysis, and management skills
• Literature reviews
• Understanding of sound research design and methodologies
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Knowledge of MS Office applications
• Must have good interpersonal skills, be a team player and a self starter, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
