- Preparation of federal, state and local tax returns for the HET and its subsidiaries.
- Perform research necessary to support positions taken in the federal and state tax returns.
- Gather information requested by the Internal Revenue Service or state tax authorities for audits and organize the information in the appropriate format for presentation to these agencies.
- Perform research, as directed, on special projects related to other internal department requests, tax department corporate tax planning projects, and positions taken in response to federal and state tax audits.
- Prepare estimated tax payments quarterly.
- Prepare workpapers supporting the annual tax provision calculation.
- Respond to internal and external requests for tax information and forms without prompting and keeping supervisors and/or department management informed of requests and information provided.
- Prepare detail support schedules required for the consolidated federal and state tax returns.
- One - two years in federal and state corporate income tax.
- Knowledge of personal computers, Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Familiarity with partnership tax.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts and familiarity with certain book/tax differences.
- Strong communication skills.
- Training on tax return processing systems such as Corp Tax.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant License or working toward the above
