This is a leadership opportunity within Pearson based in the US.  This person will support and ensure strict adherence to the business unit policies and procedures pertaining to credit & collections and risk assessment (domestic and internationally) as well as internal Customer Financial Services policies and procedures.  They oversee internal operations as well as our outsourced partner in regards to their areas.  They will regularly seek and recommend process improvements through the best practice evaluation.  They will pro-actively recommend ways to improve and streamline processes and systems.  They will develop, implement and ensure compliance with corporate credit policies and Sarbanes SOX.  They will create and present insightful analysis with commentary and recommendations to senior management. Assist with special projects as needed.

 

The Director of Curriculum and Assessments will have direct and indirect staff supervision responsibilities as well as manage external relationships with partners including but not limited to customers, business units, and IBM.  They will oversee collection activity to ensure cash collection goals are being reached while regularly reviewing the AR activity to minimize bad debt and reduce the monthly DSO.  They will be responsible for the extension of credit and credit limit settings and the authorization of AR transactions as needed. 

 

Travel will be 10% - 20% of the job (internationally and domestically.)  Due to Pearson’s strong presence in Latin America and the Caribbean regions, fluency in Spanish and Portuguese is required for this position.

 

The ideal candidate will have 8 – 10 years of domestic and international credit & collections management experience within a fast paced, results oriented corporation.  At least 5 years in a Shared Service and/or outsourcing environment.

 

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field.  Masters degree preferred.  Relevant business experience may also be considered.

Publishing or Collections accreditation a plus

Thorough knowledge of credit & collections best practices

Strong hand’s on experience developing, aligning, and implementing strategies with objectives and functions

Established leader with a strong track record of success as a business partner, mentor, manager, and team leader

Must have experience with financial review, credit assessment reviews and analysis, and reporting requirements
