Employee Communications Manager
Job Summary:
This energetic, forward-thinking professional will develop and write clear, creative and engaging employee communications across a wide spectrum of media, needs and purposes, and manage content on the company intranet, which is hosted on SharePoint 2010. The successful candidate will also work directly with the CEO and other members of the senior executive team to produce communications that support corporate goals.
Essential Functions:
- Develop innovative communications and messaging that inform and strengthen the employee community across geographies, business units and functions
- Create a wide array of communications including presentations, email newsletters, announcements, information sheets, brochures, articles, videos and more
- Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and efficiency when writing, revising, editing and proofreading material
- Train new intranet publishers on the use of SharePoint, and trouble-shoot problems for existing users
- Work with business groups to establish sites and help publish their content to SharePoint
- Gather, review and analyze user feedback and intranet trend data to identify problems, improve information delivery, and keep the intranet fresh
- Work with stakeholders to regularly review and update corporate information on Cognex.com and the intranet (e.g., corporate facts, global office locations, patent information, etc.)
- Assist with special events as necessary
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Outstanding creative writing, presentation development, editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work quickly, thoughtfully and collaboratively with different personalities
- Experience managing content on a global corporate intranet hosted on SharePoint
- Must have a sense of humor, comfort with constructive criticism, and confidence to challenge the status quo
Minimum education and work experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, creative writing or English
- At least 5-7 years' experience developing employee or corporate communications for a global company
- Sparkling writing skills and impeccable proofreading skills
- Experience managing content on a corporate intranet
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint 2010
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills; HTML and Adobe Creative Suite 5 experience plus
- Comfort working in a flat organization, requiring face-to-face interaction with all levels of the company
- Ability to use still and video cameras to cover events
- A desire to push colleagues to elevate their game in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
