My client is a leader in the wireless soil monitoring industry and are seeking a Programmer with Ruby on Rails and MySQL experience for a contract to hire opportunity in King of Prussia, PA. This client creates underground wireless soil monitoring sensors. They are on the cutting edge and are using their technologies in other areas besides soil monitoring. Here is the job description. 5+ years web application development experience with Ruby on Rails
5+ years experience programming in an object-oriented paradigm
Experience building, maintaining, and debugging multi-table relational databases (MySQL preferred). Stored procedure development a plus.
Performance, caching, scaling, tuning skills.
Familiarity with producing/parsing XML
Experience with the Apache/Linux environment
Standards-compliant skills in xHTML/Javascript/JQuery/CSS/AJAX/PHP
Ability to author a presentation layer within an advanced web application framework such as Java/J2EE
Experience coding server-side page generation
Understanding of source control systems (Subversion / Git a plus)
Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and procedures
Knowledge of GIS (Google maps, ESRI) and experience with cloud technologies a plus
