Job Description

Some of you may remember that I represented this unique and growing consulting client several years ago. They just reached out to me again. The company is a 35 person software consultancy focused on investment banks. They just acquired 2 clients that want to give them more work than they can handle. They need to hire 6 people now and most likely, several more before the end of 2012.

Job descriptions are below but what they basically want are technical project managers from entry/junior level to senior level. They'll take someone right out of college or grad school if they meet the requirements and/or they'll take someone with up to 8-10 years of experience. The candidate does NOT need to come out of the financial services industry or have a finance/economics major out of college. Best is a computer science major. If you present a recent college grad, they must have a high GPA.

The hiring process is multiple interviews over a 2 week period. I can go into detail with you if we get that far. The whole process starts with a technical phone screen lasting one hour. All very good....

People who work at this N Cambridge, close to Route 2/Cambridge client are smart, easy going, collaborative. They work hard and play hard.

Salary ranges are wide open. They will pay a competitive salary plus a substantial bi-annual bonus plus an excellent benefit package.

These are positions that need to be filled immediately:
SENIOR ASSOCIATE
We are a growing company, and project leadership opportunities abound. We offer a fast-paced and challenging work environment with an opportunity to help grow a small company. Our internal structure is very flat and we need experienced, hands-on team leaders that are as comfortable leading developers as they are working with clients to develop business requirements and architect software solutions. We value performance and project delivery and a significant bonus component is built into our compensation structure.

Applicants should have 5-8 years experience in software development, application architecture and design. They should be able to lead a small team of associates (3-6 people) in everything from specification and design, to development and testing, to implementation and support.

ASSOCIATE
At this N Cambridge client technical excellence is a must, but we differentiate ourselves by combining technical skills with a firm understanding of the financial services industry and core business problems. Securities transaction processing is a multifaceted business that touches almost every area in a brokerage firm and to meet the varied challenges, we hire intelligent, dedicated software engineers who are capable of learning our clients' business and the technologies a project requires.

All Associates are involved in the full software development life cycle for most projects. This means developing requirements, designing, implementing, testing, and (for a short time) supporting the applications we build. We believe that this approach maximizes responsibility for each team member with the added benefit of making the work more challenging and interesting.

Candidates must have at minimum a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with mature programming languages and database management systems (Java, Perl, C#, Flex, .NET, SQL, Sybase, DB2, XML, SOAP, Spring etc.) is required. Financial industry experience is not required, but is a plus.
