Position Title: Sr. Technical Writer
Location: Washington, DC.
Duration: 12 Months (With possible extension)
The purpose of the Digital Inclusion Program is to leverage the power of technology to connect communities with
opportunities. This means ensuring all District residents have meaningful access to computers and high-speed
broadband.
The Technical Writer will design, create, and maintain technical documentation for the Digital Inclusion program,
including, but not limited to, a digital inclusion strategic plan, design specifications, and white papers. The candidate
should have knowledge and experience writing about current technology issues, such as broadband access, the
digital divide, and general wireless technology. The candidate should also possess experience writing policy.
Responsibilities include drafting, editing and publishing program documentation. Documentation must be done in
real time as outcomes from business user group discussions. The Technical Writer ensures clarity and accuracy of
system documentation in a logical and user friendly manner.
Must be "emotionally intelligent"- able to listen to business users and read between the lines, have keen
observation, intuitive, and reasoning skills. Must value the essential role conflict and resistance in creating
excellent outcomes.
