L3 STRATIS has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, self-directed, System Engineer to work in a full-time capacity providing systems administration support to designated special operations units.
Specifically, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for integration and support of a Windows 2000/2003/2008 network with multiple types of servers and server applications to include but not limited to Exchange2003/2007/2010, SQL 2000/2005, IIS, and Share Point in a production environment. The SE will assist in the design, integration, maintenance, and upgrade of Storage Area Networks (SAN). Experience with NetApp Storage Area Network (SAN) products is desirable, but SAN experience on the whole will increase a candidate’s success. The SE will be performing backup and recovery using a blended solution to include SyncSort, NetApp native SnapShots technology, Veritas NetBackUp, and other backup solutions. The SE will coordinate Information Assurance efforts and network security with the Computer Security Manager. The successful candidate will be able to exhibit strong working knowledge of and experience working with VMware 4.0.x. and vCenter. Experience with Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) will add to a candidate’s list of strengths.
The SE will perform the actions required to correct deficiencies or shortcomings and to improve system performance and efficiency and assist in the integration efforts for lifecycle migration plans, as well as new systems with COTS, GOTS, NDI (non-development items), and developmental equipment.
Your expertise in exhibiting strong technical skills as they relate to Microsoft Windows technologies including but not limited to: Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows XP or later, SQL Server 2000/2005, Networking, third party applications and scripting language will greatly enhance your success.
Your strength and experience in maintaining and configuring computer hardware (i.e. servers, workstations, Hewlett Packard (HP) C7000 blade enclosures, and a variety of other peripheral devices) would help us accomplish our mission. You would be entrusted to interact daily with supervisors and supported special operations units.
Required:
- A DOD Top Secret Security Clearance with DCID 6/4 eligibility.
- Strong working knowledge of and experience with VMware 4.0 or higher and vCenter experience.
- Strong working knowledge of and experience with Backup and Recovery in a production environment.
- 5-8 years’ experience in the administration of LAN operating systems, servers, and applications in a production environment.
- Strong oral and written communications skills and be capable of effectively directing subordinates
- Ability to function as a member of a team while also capable of operation with little supervision or constant guidance
- Excellent communication and teaching skills.
- A strong working knowledge of Active Directory Services, Microsoft Cluster Services, Data Migration, Replication Services and Group Policies.
- Several years’ experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies in a production environment.
Desired:
- B.S. or MS in Computer Science, Information System, Mathematics, or IT related field.
- Military background and experience with Special Operations.
- SAN experience - preferably NetApp but any SAN background is a plus.
- Working knowledge of (or experience with) Microsoft Clustering, Exchange 2010, and LYNC (or OCS) is a plus.
- Experience with HP Hardware - specifically C7000 blade enclosures is a plus.
- Cisco UCS experience would be a plus.
