Job Description
Construction Site Manager, Energy – (2 year contract)
Our client is an established and reputable international company who is currently looking to hire an experienced Construction Site Manager for a project starting now, ending 2014.
Responsibilities:
- Lead scheduling and coordination of construction segments of projects to meet cost and time objectives
- Lead in the review of most complex civil engineering designs and documentation to ensure compliance with project design criteria and standards
- Document job activities through written reports including maintaining project and work schedules for personnel or project team members
- Assist Civil Engineer in civil design review process
- Assist in permitting process including liaison with and attendance at meetings with customer Siemens Engineer and various authorities having jurisdiction over the project
- Verify budget for piling and civil construction
- Assist in creating the requests for quotation for piling and construction subcontract
- Assist in analysis of bids from civil contractors and participate in negotiations with civil contractors
- Manage all aspects of major subcontracts ensuring that all related works are undertaken to locate requirements and within safety time cost and quality limits acceptable to regulations and management
- Undertake quality control inspections as necessary of the various construction activities
- Attend meeting with Industrial relations consultant and various Unions involved in the project Contract management during the execution including assurance of budget compliance and assessment evaluation of all claims submitted by the various subcontracts and preparation of any claims Siemens may have against customer including attendance at resolution meeting with all parties
- Monitor progress of all tasks activities in relation to baseline contract schedules agreed with customer and the various subcontractors and take appropriate actions in the event of any schedule slippages report to project management on an as needed basis
- Attend customer meetings and report on construction progress
- Attend regular site meetings with customer engineers and subcontractors
- Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years’ experience with installation and commissioning of High Voltage Substations projects
- Demonstrated management experience in all construction aspects including safety quality schedule and cost monitoring and ability to minimize construction and contractual risks
- Exert authority to instruct all site and construction personnel on construction related matters
- Successful project management experience
- Skilled in all areas of executive construction and engineering management
- Professional experience working with customers
- Demonstrated ability to develop team members through mentoring and coaching in complex subjects
- Bilingual English/French preferred
