Paralegal (closed)
This position will have dual reporting responsibility to WESTMED's General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer. Incumbent will perform a wide variety of routine and complex legal and administrative tasks to support the activities of a small, high volume in-house legal department and the company's executive team. This position requires exceptional writing, communication, organizational and computer skills as well as the ability and initiative to perform duties requiring consistently high levels of attention to detail with accuracy, competency and sound judgment. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy, challenging environment and manage multiple ongoing projects in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities:• Providing support in the area of regulatory filings and corporate records, including the preparation of corporate filings, meeting agendas and corporate resolutions. • Assisting with collection, review and organization of information and documents for transactions and other company projects and initiatives.• Creating and maintaining electronic databases in connection with contracts and compliance. • Organizing legal/business records.• Preparing drafts of standard contracts based on templates, for attorney review.• Assisting in the development and management of the company's policy and procedure library and operational checklists.• Participates in and leads projects as appropriate under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer. Scope of project work involves WESTMED Business and administrative function efficiencies and best practices. Specific projects will involve coordination of policies and procedures, the maintenance of Learning and Development database, and other programs aimed at operational best practices. • Operationalizing company compliance initiatives.• Handling internal/external communications at the request and under the guidance of counsel. • Performing legal and factual research in order to identify issues and resolve routine law questions under the guidance of counsel and preparing reports or summaries of findings and recommendations.• Clerical duties in support of the corporate legal function and executive team projects.• Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Education:Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate. Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal setting. Corporate/transactional experience required; healthcare experience preferred. Qualified, or ability to become qualified, as a notary public.
