SIT Test Engineers participate in the software development life cycle by reviewing and creating detailed test plans during the design and development phases then executing them during the systems integration testing phase prior to moving to Systems Assurance Testing (SAT).

This position is responsible for analyzing system features and functionality, determining the best approach and techniques to test, and creating and executing a system test plan. Using independent problem solving skills, good judgment and a demonstrated ability for accuracy and quality, the SIT Test Engineer promptly determines the likely root cause of test failures and accurately communicates this information to the Manager of Development and Software Engineers in the Unit Testing environment.

Objectives:
Gain knowledge and understanding of product features and functionality
Attend requirements, functional design and technical design walkthroughs and raise any issues or discrepancies that are identified.
Review and/or create documented test conditions to cover 100% of functionality of High and Medium complexity SIRs to be delivered to SIT and eventually to Production.
Evaluate the requirements and design documents to ensure all conditions are included in test scenarios and communicate any additional test scenarios to the appropriate contact.
Perform analysis of affected functionality to identify necessary regression test scenarios.
Conduct analysis of data requirements for the creation of test scenarios and cases
Prepare Test scenarios, cases, and expected results in a complete and accurate manner.
Provide estimates for completion of assigned tests cases to product and business process management
Verify that appropriate unit testing was completed
Maintain the status of test scenarios and cases in Clear Quest.
Perform review of test plans before execution and verify the actual results after execution.
Identify instances where issues under test may impact other functional areas.
Create test execution data sets
Execute assigned test scenarios and cases
Support analysis and research when test script results are questioned
Provide support for business users who are participating in test efforts by creating and executing custom data sets.
Document issues and workarounds discovered during test data creation.
Escalate emerging issues that may jeopardize estimated delivery dates
Update completion status and appropriate documentation when a test is passed
Provide status on a daily basis to Engineering management
Support continuous maintenance and updating of testing with new (or improved) test scenarios and cases
Create test execution documentation
When appropriate create Test Failure SIRs (System Investigation Request)that clearly define the nature of the failure and assign to appropriate team
Retest and Close Failed SIRs
Monitor daily test completion status to meet execution deadlines
Keep Engineering management aware of any issues encountered during test execution
Update test completion status on a daily basis
Executing batch processing in the SAT environment

Education & Experience
Bachelors degree, preferably in technology related field
Two to four years experience creating and executing software test plans
Knowledge of and experience with NWP 10.x (Open-cIS) and utilities industry, utility deregulation and customer information and billing systems a plus.
Batch processing skills ActiveBatch experience a plus
Experience programming in Power Shell Script, C++, C## and Microsoft SQL 2008 R2
Billing Knowledge and Experience a plus
Payment Industry knowledge a plus
