Job Description
The Kansas City Plant is a U. S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T).  Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system.  Our goal is to seek innovative solutions that surpass our customers' expectations.  To accomplish this, we research, develop and deploy some of the most advanced design and manufacturing technologies in use in the United States today.  All positions at FM&T require U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

SUMMARY
 
The SQL Server Database Administrator ensures the control, integrity and physical accessibility of moderately complex databases that support multiple, concurrent users.
 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Install and apply company standards to large COTS-based (Common off-the-shelf) databases.
Ensure a balance between optimization of data access and computer resource utilization.
Provide capacity planning analysis and recommendation.
Provide performance tuning and processes that increase reliability, integrity and availability of data, including data across differing platforms.
Develop stored procedures and triggers and implement program performance specifications.  When performance issues lead to physical database redesign, coordinate with developers and vendors to resolve the issues.

Monitor production database performance specifications and collaborate with developers to resolve problems in applications and/or production support.
Perform administrative functions, such as: creating/modifying catalogs and reports, creating tables for databases, and creating table joins using techniques to ensure the appropriate level of data access efficiency.
Support the design, construction and implementation of operational DBMS, data stores, data warehouses, and data marts that enable informational, analytical management inquiry including enterprise-wide information views and complex reports.

Interface with project teams involved in the initial planning stages of projects and makes recommendations on medium to high complex data structures.
Support the establishment and maintenance of the data repository, respond to events on the database to ensure compliance with service level agreements and develop database backup and recovery procedures.
Support the design, construction and implementation of operational DBMS, data stores, data warehouses, and data marts that enable informational, analytical management inquiry including enterprise-wide information views and complex reports.
Recommend and coordinate efforts with the server group (i.e. UNIX or Windows) for database set-up and performance tuning.

Leadership responsibilities include:


Remain aware of advances and current thinking in areas of responsibility and look for ways to apply the latest technologies for improvement
Gather and/or develop requirements for changing business needs and translate them into technological solutions when appropriate.
Evaluate and recommend database processes, tools and/or software to be used in satisfying business need.
Serve as the technical lead for small/medium infrastructure projects.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • ·         Bachelor's degree in the field of Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Engineering with a minimum of 24 semester hours of computer-related courses or equivalent work experience
  • ·         2+ years of experience in hands-on support of SQL Server database services.
  • ·         Demonstrated experience with Windows 2008 R2
  • ·         Working knowledge and hands-on experience in the support of Oracle database services.
  • ·         Demonstrated experience with Database Monitoring tools (i.e. TOAD, Management Studio)

 

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • ·         At least 2 years of experience in hands-on support of Oracle Databases 10g or 11g, including the installation and maintenance of large COTS-based databases.
