Standard Job Description:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Specific Job Description:
This position will be a member of the Logistics and Sustainment Team for GPS and will be located in Los Angeles. The candidate will collaborate directly with management, engineers and customers. The candidate will support the SI Organization’s GPS SE&I program within the SI Organization’s Defense Systems Group.
Specific responsibilities for this position will include:
The candidate will apply general systems engineering principles to develop and maintain sustainment engineering processes, identify issues, and propose solutions or improvements. Develop plans and packages for: Source of Repair Analysis Process (SORAP), Unique Item Identification (UID) coding, depot partnering, data rights acquisition, provisioning data acquisition, and life cycle cost planning. Develop an operations, logistics and sustainment support plan to include segment-level plans and identify added system-level management and oversight requirements. Develop plans and schedules to create a logistics support strategy using the ten integrated logistics support elements to execute acquisition, fielding, and transition. Coordinate logistics efforts on integrated product teams and integrated logistics support working groups, identify and resolve logistics issues, and define system support requirements. Analyze contractor documentation and handbooks, attend reviews, and create reports on findings and recommendations, and ensure that the findings are properly addressed. Identifying, managing, and resolving issues as needed. Briefing status, findings and recommendations at reviews/forums as required.
Required Skills:
• Required Education: BS and 9 years of related experience or MS and 7 years of related experience or PhD and 4 years of related experience
• An understanding of the systems engineering “V” from requirements to test/verification
• Prior logistics experience
• The ability to perform on time-sensitive projects.
• The ability to understand complex issues, to work with a team to develop closure plans.
• The ability to coordinate with program stakeholders and to work issues to closure.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Systems Engineering experience on large complex systems and experience in several SE domain areas
• Ability to Integrate with other organizations/teams both government and contractor lead to ensure a cohesive analysis and solution are defined
• Ability to develop a highly effective working relationship with the customer
• Prior experience with the SMC is desired.
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain a Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
