- Spec. and certify next generation server, storage, and network hardware to match company growth
- Translate a design concept into a working diagram highlighting individual hardware/software components required to integrate the project into existing infrastructure
- Manage and ensure development, integration, test, and production environments are all in sync by implementing revision change control
- Support and maintain communication and project workflow between development group and operations group
- Understand how to maintain and deploy DNS, and LDAP; secure internal subnets against external Internet traffic by utilizing different technologies such as load balancers, firewalls, DMZ zoning, and VLAN segregation
- Understand server virtualization technology such as VMWare and the proper use of these environments
- Proven ability to successfully navigate and perform in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment, and effectively multi-task multiple priorities in a team-oriented setting
- Excellent written/verbal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, along with the ability to communicate ideas and concepts between different departments
- Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills by seeing a project from design concept to final product deployment
- Establish technology roadmaps for servers, OS versions, and cluster software through product evaluations and collaboration with development and operations groups.
- Gathering and documenting all system requirements
- Maintains current technology knowledge to manage roadmap adoption strategy
- Maintains and builds positive customer, partner, and peer relationships
- Administer and maintain Windows/UNIX/Linux servers
- Balance the routine work tasks of installation, configuration, support, project, and incident/ticket response workload
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. EE, CS, CE)
- 5+ years of experience in the area of systems integration, and installation
- Experience in design and implementation of highly available and scalable system infrastructure
- Experience with Operating Systems: Linux, HP-UX, Windows
- Virtualization software/hardware: VMWare, HP Vpars, Linux Xen, Sun xVM
- Server platforms: x86, x86-64, IA64, PA-RISC, SPARC, POWER
- Experience with the deployment and management of storage hardware: EMC Clariion, EMC CDL, Isilon IQ, and NAS appliances
- SAN hardware and technologies: EMC/Brocade, SAN Directors, Fibre-Attached storage, iSCSI, RAID levels and best practices
- Network related protocols: TCP/IP, SSH, NFS, CIFS, FTP
- Scripting languages such as ksh, bash, Perl, PHP, Ruby, CGI, http
- Structured language experience such as C, C++, and Java
- Relational Databases: Oracle, IBM DB2
- High Availability and Scalability Technology: Load Balancers, clustering software, auto-failover, Ethernet bonding
- Design/Planning software such as Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently on projects and cooperatively with the rest of the team
- Continues to develop skills with self study and by attending vendor training/ conferences, and company provide courses
- Availability to support a 24/7 operation is required
- Minimum travel will be required
