Network Engineer Washington, DC6 months Plus

Position Description/Responsibilities: MANDATORY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEBSc in Comp Sci, Engineering or related Minimum of 5+ years of security operations in an enterprise environment, operating Firewalls, IPSs and Web Proxies: writing policies, reviewing logs and troubleshooting Understanding of Network Protocols TCP/IP, BGP, IPSEC, OSPF Understanding of Network and Network Security devices Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Web Proxies, IDP/IPS 3+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco routers/switches in a large campus environment Experience with Ironport and/or Palo Alto web proxy/ID appliances in a large-scale install (~10K users) Palo Alto Panorama Experience with scripting languages PERL, PYTHON - make routine FW changes as requested by clients : update object names or IPs, add objects to groups, revise rules, etc.- create and review reports and analyze logs to verify proper function and identify anomalies - interact with clients to receive requests, request clarifications, triage, troubleshoot and resolve firewall issues - review IPS rules and logs, suggest improvements and implement if approved - interact with Office of Information Security to implement change requests, seek accreditation, provide information make urgent Firewall and Web proxy (Ironport) changes as requested by the Office of Information Security - document all changes -Recommend, Design and Build solutions to improve the network (LAN, WAN, Security) performance and monitoring.
