Position Description
Our client is recruiting an Electrical Engineer to support their internal Design Team. You will work with Senior Engineers using state-of-the-art engineering tools and methods to support the development of advanced very-high-frequency power electronics systems. You will be responsible for the design of analog and digital circuits using discrete components, layout of high-frequency printed circuit-boards, lab testing and debugging of power converters and support circuits, and programming of FPGAs using Verilog.
Job Responsibilities:
This is a dynamic work environment where you will play a pivotal role in a diverse range of projects, from initial planning to design, testing, troubleshooting, and startup.
The position includes the following specific responsibilities:
o Perform design tests to evaluate and verify current designs according to specified results
o Printed circuit board schematic capture and layout design
o Use data obtained from engineering staff to verify the functionality of product design and draw conclusions for evaluation
o Develop test methodology and specifications and perform such tests
o Characterize electronic components and systems, and collect and analyze data
o Construct and design the hardware and software tools necessary to perform automated experimental measurements and tests
o Preparation and maintenance of detailed documentation including but not limited to high level design, design specifications, design verification and test specifications
Qualifications:
o BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with a strong knowledge of analog and digital system design and analysis. Will consider student in final year: minimum GPA of 3.4/4.0. Relevant academic projects, internships and lab experience, and familiarity with lab equipment (oscilloscope, power supplies, network analyzer, etc.), are highly regarded.
o Strong communication skills with the ability to work individually and as part of a team
o Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects involving a variety of resources with defined deadlines/schedules
o Knowledge of various engineering design software tools and scripting languages such as Altium, Eagle Layout, MATLAB, HSPICE, and Python or similar;
o Experience in FPGA design and test bench development using a hardware description language (e.g., VHDL or Verilog)
o Experience designing components, circuitry, or hardware, from detailed concept descriptions, including feasibility assessment, part selection, schematics, simulation, PCB layout, board bring-up & test, and software integration
o Hands-on test/debug experience in an engineering lab environment with PC tools, oscilloscopes, and network/logic/spectrum analyzers, as well as support lab activities such as assembly, debug, lab management, and component purchases
o Demonstrated knowledge of PCB layout issues
