We are seeking a New York -based Senior Programmer/Analyst to join our Business Process Automation team in Equity Investment Management Technology.

Why is this role unique?

•This is a unique role in that it supports business and workflow functionality that cross-cuts a large number of teams (sales, portfolio management, operations) and integrates/supplies data to many other systems across the firm. As such, the candidate will work directly with business SMEs across the firm.

•Given the broad number of teams using the applications, the candidate will be given an excellent opportunity to either learn or further develop their expertise within the asset management business from a number of different perspectives and continuously learn the details of a variety of financial instruments.

•The opportunity to work on different investment-related business problems across the firm that have the common denominator of workflow. You can spend time on a cash flow solution, then work on a derivatives problem, then an operations tool, etc. The application in question sits at the crossroads of many of our critical business processes.

• Due to the nature of workflow solutions, on any one project the candidate will typically work directly with all the business experts involved in the problem, including sales, portfolio management, operations, etc.

• In addition, we offer the opportunity to play many roles on a project – to include Developer, Business Analyst and Project Manager.

Job Description

•The successful candidate will handle workflow automation solutions concerning portfolio management, operations, and trading. The candidate should demonstrate strong technical skills and a desire to learn the financial aspects and business processes of our firm. Must have experience working in teams to deliver systems that are under tight timelines.

•The team supports two primary workflow applications (custom built onshore) using .Net technologies (front end and server) and Sybase/SQL Server databases. Applications are used by 1500+ global users, 24-hrs a day / 6 days a week.

•The key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to hands-on C# .NET programming and design (front-end and server-side development), hands-on database development including schema design and business logic implementation, working closely with senior developers to ensure all code is consistent with architectural standards and design, and working cross-functionally with other development teams (Trading, Portfolio Management, Sales, Compliance, and Operations) in support of enterprise efforts.

Job Qualifications

•6+ years of software development experience using Microsoft technologies

•Experience working directly with internal clients to build business solutions

•Knowledge and proven experience with .NET Framework (2.0-4.0), C#, SQL Server, Sybase, XML

•Demonstrable a high degree of skill in developing with .NET WinForms

•Strong knowledge of RDBMS design & development; optimization is a plus

•Good understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns

•Excellent communication skills

•Ability to work in a fast-past environment

•Desire to learn or continuously develop within financial and transaction-based systems
