The Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA) is responsible for enterprise-wide administration to multiple Data Base Management Systems (DBMSs).  Department supports Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL. Responsibilities include database administration, architectural design, and strategic direction for either Operational OLTP or Data Warehouse support.

MUST HAVES:
• data modeling, design & implementation based on established standards 
• software installation and configuration
• database backup and recovery 
• database connectivity and security 
• performance monitoring and tuning 
• disk space management 
• software patches and upgrades 
• automate manual tasks 
• conduct database training 
• provide on-call support & troubleshoot technical issues 
• oncall and after hours activities (as required) 

EDUCATION:

Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience 

IMPORTANT SKILLS:

• Experience in database design, tuning and upgrades

• Strong understanding of SQL in accessing and manipulating data

• Strong understanding of system architecture

• Understanding of Unix, DOS and Windows operating systems

• Strong understanding of general programming concepts

• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills 

DESIRED:
• Experience with the following software required: UNIX/Linux shell scripting - Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL

• Experience with the following software desired: - ERwin ER Diagramming Tool – E/R Studio - DB Artisan - BMC’s Recovery Manager for Databases (aka SQL BackTrack) - AutoSys Job Scheduling Tool - SyncSort for UNIX - SAS 

PLUS:
• Exposure to Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, Hyperion IRS query and reporting tool)

• Application Development experience
