Standard lines Commercial P&C Carrier is currently seeking to add a Commercial Underwriter to their Midwest office. Position will act as a technical source for Production staff by providing underwriting consultation, in addition to recommending underwriting guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and make appropriate underwriting decisions on business that exceeds Field authority
• Assess new forms and potential coverage issues
• Examine loss ratio performance and make recommendations to improve results
• Perform due diligence and provide guidance on new agency appointment
• Complete underwriting audits as member of Underwriting Review Team
• Train new Field personnel on company underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Place facultative reinsurance as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree; industry designations preferred (CPCU)
• 7 - 10 years of Commercial Underwriting experience
• Ability to effectively review coverage forms, exclusions, and endorsements
