The Data Rescue Team: Because hardware and people fail, we cannot.

We are seeking bright, motivated engineers to invent the next wave of disaster recovery products.

We need to recover data in less time  and repair data before users know it is broken.    Data needs to be protected in all kinds of environments, both real and virtual.   These products will leverage the latest in storage and database technology to create  secure, error free operations with the guarantee of recovery from any disaster, with no data loss and minimal down time.

Our team is currently developing an exciting new data protection system that is a revolutionary change to Oracle's existing backup and recovery tools.   We will be happy to discuss this project in more detail with you during an in-person interview.

Backup and recovery, at Oracle's largest customers, presents unique challenges of  concurrency and scalability, and in our team you will work on solving these challenges,  working with the world's best software engineers.

This is an extremely challenging area.   If you join our team, you will learn (at a minimum) OS internals, database internals, storage, networking, security protocols, web services, and appliance system fundamentals.   Our work requires a meticulous, scientific approach to problem analysis.   Because data sizes grow exponentially year after year, our team will always be faced with the hardest problems in the data recovery field.

Additionally, a strong background in OS performance and concurrency issues; and system installation, configuration, upgrade, and verification will be a great help on our team.

Our team's products are the last line of defense against data loss.   If you  are up to the challenge of designing and creating products that will  be used by hundreds of thousands of Oracle's customers when all  else has failed, then this is the right position for you.

We will initially focus on a Database Appliance.   The team will thus start with system installation, configuration, upgrade, and verification.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backup and storage management software development, experience working with large enterprise-class software products, and intimate knowledge of appliance systems (installation, configuration, upgrade, verification).

Top 3 skill sets / technologies in the ideal candidate:

1. Linux system development experience - C/C++, Shell Scripting

2. Appliance experience  

3. Database experience (SQL)
