Electrical Engineers (Entry level and Senior Level) 2 openings with same company (closed)
Both of our current Electrical Engineer openings below are direct hire full time salaried positions with training. They are both with the same company in North Pittsburgh.
Senior Controls Engineer
North Pittsburgh
Small company of 18 employees in Pittsburgh office
Parent company is based out of another country which employs over 500 people
We are looking for a Controls Engineer. Our client had someone leave after about 8 years. This person will have a degree in Electrical Engineering
They would consider relocation but prefer highly a local candidate. There will be some travel up to 25% and can be international or domestic. Job includes some CAD, programming, Debugging machinery, tech support for control issues. Some field and in-house work. Will be working with other departments including the mechanical side as they have customers that will request equipment that requires the design and specifications that occur prior to the programming of the machinery.
PLC experience is required. Statement List type PLC programming is what they use and is what is preferred. That is a big plus. CNC Programming is not required but a nice added bonus. They will be trained on their products. Having CAD knowledge and some exposure is important as they will be working with and in association with the mechanical group in designing their products.
Entry Level Electrical Engineer
North Pittsburgh
Small company of 18 employees in Pittsburgh office
Parent company is based out of another country which employs over 500 people
This Engineer will come in with less experience but have the know how. There will be training. They would like someone that has the electrical background. EE or EET is fine but they do not have to have the degree. Must have electrical experience, knowledge and/or traning in PLC's (a must!). They like the EET graduates in some ways more as they tend to have a better cross over with hands on and some mechanical type training or work. This person would also be working in association with the mechanical design team as they design and build the tooling for the needs of each customer. Each press machine will have a different application based on the needs of the customer. Having some exposue and knowlege of CAD would be very helpful with the crossover to the mechanical part of the job.
Some common things they are looking for in both openings:
Commmunication skills - very important, these engineers will be working with coustomers on the phone and in person when they go to the companies. They have to have that technical know how but the ability to communicate and Talk to people in profeessional way. having those soft skills is emphasized.
Wiling to go the extra mile - As they are not a large firm locally, each person will be asked to help out in their main areas but also may be asked to contribute in other ways in other areas. Have a technical and some mechanical knowledge and skill was noted as one area that there could be overlap in what a Controls engineer can do to help out. The more they are capable and WILLING to do, the better.
Not just a nine to fiver - they have some flex as it relates to work hours. Some can start early and leave and have some variation. But, they expect the person to be open to doing whatever it takes and if that means leaving on a short notice to help a client or coming in to finish up a job on a Saturday they want that kind of person etc.. They are flexibile but want the person to be fiexible for the company.
Controls Experience - The senior level person would come in with immediate skills in programming. The best people tend to have that ability to think logically as it relates to electrical systems. Mechanical knowledge and skills help as they can contribute in some others ways.
Testing - There will be a test set up for the candidates. Most likely all of the entry levels but could be for any candidate for the job. It is basic but will require logical steps related to Programmable controls.
Travel - 20% - 25% - some domestic and some international. Travel is usually just a couple days at a time but sometimes for international a little longer.
Germany - Candidates will go to Germany for one month for training
