Summary
This position is responsible for translating business requirements into specific system, application or process designs, including working with business personnel and executives to identify functional requirements and in developing business justification. The position applies knowledge of the business unit and functions in development and evaluation of alternatives for IT solutions. The position holder leads the selection of methodologies, tools, and components of total IT solutions and leads multifunctional teams in successful application of those methodologies and tools. This position usually acts as a mentor to less experienced architects.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Manages complex IT architectural projects requiring demonstrated technical/business knowledge of multiple disciplines and LOB’s.
· Supports the oversight process to ensure the architectural “health” and maintenance of discipline(s) as well as its transformation based the needs of business and corporate technology and budget objectives.
· Translates, develops and/or defines architectural technical design to satisfy defined requirements and constraints, and validate their alignment with corporate standards.
· Ensures the implementation of architectural strategies pertaining to application/data/network architecture.
· Identifies alternative approaches that meet requirements while reducing cost and improving functionality.
· Resolves technical related architecture during implementation.
Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications
· Demonstrated proficiency defining complex technology planning strategies for domain objectives, architectural principles, goals and standards across the LOB.
· Demonstrated technical proficiency supporting corporate strategies through the development of cross-functional solutions from a technical and financial perspective.
· Demonstrated project management experience in executing complex projects.
· Demonstrated experience translating business needs into long-term architecture solutions.
· Demonstrated knowledge of STI policies, products, markets, processes, technical platforms and major applications as well as associated business practices and principles or applicable banking or financial services experience.
· Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications proficiency with the capacity for presenting technical information in order to influence and gain the understanding of others.
· Demonstrated effective consulting and interpersonal skills.
Education/Training Required
Bachelors Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
Work Experience/Knowledge Required
10+ years progressive work related experience with demonstrated mastery of technical and business knowledge as well as understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position. Actively mentors/leads less experienced staff or complex projects in area of expertise.
Additional Required Technical Skills & Knowledge
Demonstrated understanding and proficiency in one or more of the following:
· JAVA to include J2EE (1.2 and 1.3), JAVA Beans, EJB, JSP, JDSC, JDK
· WebSphere technologies to include WSAD, WAS, MQ series, WMQI, WBI
· COBOL/Mainframe legacy modernization tools and integration techniques including COBOL, WSAD, CICS, Assembler, JCL, XML, DB2, and MQ Series
· UML modeling and analysis experience with Rational Tools
· Microsoft Technologies such as .NET including VB.Net, C+, or C++ and ASP.Net
· Experience with tools such as CVS, Junit, Ant/Maven, Candle, and/or Mercury
· Experience architecting technical solutions across multiple platforms such as UNIX, Mainframe, Microsoft, etc.
· JAD and BPR sessions

Additional Experience not required but beneficial
- Experience with processes that support private wealth management relationship management, product accounting and investment allocation systems as well as coordinating the ongoing support and integration of third party investment management processing for the wealth management area.
- Business and systems experience with representative areas of investment banking and wealth management areas including: Private Banking/Wealth Management, Institutional Investment, Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Real Estate Investment Banking; Trading Operations and Portfolio Management.
- Business and systems experience in large financial services, business process and transaction process outsourcing context.
- Oversight of a similar architectural/technology domain at a "Top 50" US Bank OR Software Product Management experience with a software development company OR 5+ Years consulting experience with a "Big 5" firm, or Business Process Outsourcing Firm in the Investment Management or Capital Market domains.
