Early stage agricultural startup is looking for an experienced and self-motivated  web application engineer to join our growing startup development team.  In this capacity, you'll be responsible for supporting the needs of the users of our evolving subscription-based web application by developing new features, enhancing existing features, and fixing outstanding flaws. You must the ability to respond quickly to feedback from users regarding our production application by devising efficient solutions to problems as they arise, as well as contribute to longer term development efforts which are underway. You'll work directly with our director of technology and product manager to identify application trouble spots, and formulate effective, sustainable solutions.

Required Skills:

• 4+ years PHP(4/5) experience, including proven expertise in Object Oriented Programming
• 2+ years Symfony(1.x) framework experience
• Intermediate/expert experience with the Doctrine ORM
• MySQL development/design experience (DBA experience a plus)
• Experience with and respect for design patterns, in particular MVC
• Experience with a broad range of technologies and programming techniques
• Experience with Subversion Source Code Management
• Some comfort with performing Unix system admin tasks
• Experience with Agile and Rapid Application Development techniques
• Ability to work independently with light guidance
• Experience working in a remote/distributed team environment
• Excellent communication and time management skills

• Experience with the Trac issue tracking system is a plus
• Quality Assurance / Regression testing experience is a major plus
• Familiarity with standards based web development is a plus
• Web application security experience is a plus
• Performance optimization experience is a plus
• Demonstrated prior career growth and a desire to learn
• Having a keen interest in emerging technologies is a major plus
