Job Description

Main Duties
Individual will be an integral part of the Level 2 Storage team. Primarily responsible for supporting a large scale IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Backup (6.3) environment. Perform run-the-bank TSM administrative duties, including upgrades, tape and library management, standard backup scheduling, break-fix, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Responsible for the development and maintenance of advanced capacity reporting, forecasting, and overall estate management processes. Adhere to all change and incident response SLAs, as well as all legal and regulatory requirements for data protection and retention. Off hours support as necessary.
Lead a large scale backup platform migration and the deployment of the ‘Next Generation’ enterprise backup solution.
Ability to guide the work of contractors and Level 1 support personnel as needed.
Secondary responsibilities include the support of EMC SAN, NetApp filer, and fibre channel networking components.
Interact with IT staff or vendors in testing, operational support and troubleshooting of complex system hardware and software problems. Implement disaster recovery processes and procedures.
Act as a technical resource to the IT staff and systems users. Develop, communicate, and monitor the operational standards and procedures backup & NAS environments
Perform all routine administrative and operational tasks.

Requirements

BS degree or equivalent in a Computer Science related field.
5 years + experience of distributed computing platform (Windows Operating System and Unix/Linux)

Preferred Qualifications
TSM Certifications/Coursework preferred.
Strong background across the following disciplines:
Advanced IBM TSM technical administration/support capabilities
NAS Administration (NetApp preferred)
SAN Fabric administration skills (Cisco/Brocade preferred)
Exceptional troubleshooting skills in all TSM areas
EMC Product line (VMAX, DMX, Centera, Clariion, Isilon, CTA, DataDomain)
Host OS expertise as it pertains to backup configuration and troubleshooting
Good Powershell and/or Perl scripting desirable
Keen troubleshooting and problem solving ability (i.e. performance troubleshooting, etc)
Familiarity with downstream client systems, Linux, Windows Solaris.
Good understanding of authentication and authorization system such as Active Directory and/or NIS.
Ability to work with engineering team and/or vendor for solutions. Ability to create written requirements documents
Must be able to work effectively with client and other systems technical staff, consultants and vendors. Should have potential to grow into leadership positions.
