The Kansas City Plant is a U. S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T). Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system. This position will provide support to engineers, performing administrative tasks which are technical in nature, such as developing and creating routings and work instructions, processing shop floor paperwork, managing Bills of Materials, supporting and executing procurements, tracking key performance data and coordinating other relative technical-operations activities. This position may also provide assistance in coordinating and managing project data and assist engineering project leads, and coordinating and managing departmental performance metrics.
Summary of Duties:
-Create or draft routings for development programs. Review routings with customers and technical experts. Perform updates and/or maintenance to factory routings and instructions as needed.
-Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to work instructions, and seek ways to simplify them for efficient, yet accurate execution.
-Process development tool orders and order development material, and follow up on the procurement process and schedules.
-Collect and analyze project execution data for manager and project leads.
-Schedule, track, and report status of assemblies for development projects.
-Review design definitions for consistency and administrative accuracy. Suggest improvement for function, manufacturability, and cost. Facilitate reviews by process and quality engineering.
-Work with configuration management group to ensure drawing and specification change information is documented appropriately into factory instructions.
-Perform capital equipment inventory and needs assessment.
-Assist project managers in cost management, generation of cost estimates, risk assessments, and tracking against cost and schedule requirements.
-Adjust project forecasts for project leads.
-Update departmental job hazard analyses.
-Maintain custody of tools to be ued for creating or viewing factory instruction and factory instruction-related aids, such as CD players, digital and video cameras, etc.
-Review and revise related manufacturing or process documents.
-Assist in training and documenting training for engineering and shop floor workforce.
-Assist in establishing and performing production readiness reviews.
-Assist in designing tooling and fixturing for use on the shop floor.
-Maintain and generate project files in the format and manner as required, including project tracking forms and appropriate graphical charts.
-Generate and maintain project plans and assist in monitoring baseline changes.
-Helps maintain and assess quality documents and metrics.
-Assist engineers with other work as required.
-Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established ES&H requirements to ensure the protection of associates, the public, and the environment.
-Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every associate has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.

-US Citizenship required (to obtain and maintain security clearance)
-Associate degree, technical/trade school completion, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Experience using MS Office Suite desktop applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Additional Qualifications:
-Five or more years experience in a similar position working in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
-Experience interpreting technical drawings and documents.
-Effective verbal, written and presentation skills.
-Familiarity with six sigma tools and processes.
-Experience in a manufacturing environment.
-Experience in engineering-related administrative activities such as configuration management, financial reporting, product testing procedures & data entry preferred.
-Ability to interface effectively with support organizations and internal customers and exercise judgment to determine appropriate action.
-Ability to plan and organize, demonstrate excellent time management and support several projects at once
