Senior Information Retrieval Engineer

Overview

We are looking for a senior engineer to join us at our fast paced, well-funded B2B startup in the online media space. Our clients are large media companies who use our Platform API to integrate high quality news and multimedia content into their sites.

Our company is an engineer-focused business, and our core product uses advanced information retrieval technology to deliver superior results to our clients. We're looking for a senior engineer with information retrieval skills to work with our VP Engineering to build and grow our engineering efforts in NYC.

Responsibilities

    You will write code in either Python or Java
    You will work closely with Solr and other parts of our technology stack
    You will work with our VP Engineering to drive the product strategy
    You will help us innovate our product to help differentiate from competitors

Experience

Must have some work or research experience in the field of information retrieval or familiarity with Solr/Lucene.
Skills

    Experience with Solr or Lucene (or information retrieval) is a must
    Strong coding skills a must
    Experience with large datasets a plus
    Experience with machine learning a plus (Mahout)
    Experience scaling systems a plus
    Experience with NO-Sql systems a plus
    Experience with semantic analysis or Natural Language Processing a plus
    Product Management skills a plus
    Sense of humor a must
