The Segment Product Marketing Manager (PMM) is responsible for the development and execution of the product line vision, strategy, and product roadmap working under the direction of the Director, Sales and Marketing. This is accomplished through the management of the entire product lifecycle from market/customer needs assessment, competitive analysis, new product launch, and product rationalization. The PMM will develop and manage the external market message and brand positioning as well as the internal margin maintenance/improvement and product quality. By providing market data, industry analysis and voice of the customer data, the product manager will enable the company to make the most informed decisions as they relate to introducing new products or expanding new channels to the customer. This position reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing – (Product Segment).
Summary of Responsibility
- Perform competitive analysis and develop competitive positioning strategy
- Use market based data, customer, and competitive intelligence to segment markets, develop a portfolio vision and product strategy
- Develops multi-year product plan with Product Development Segment leader
- Execute on the product strategy and plan for on-time product launch through Design for Lean Sigma (DFLS) and deliver forecasted revenue
- Effectively leads, manages activities, processes and strategic plans of the corporation thus supporting the company’s strategic vision, marketing strategies and financial objectives
- Manage the marketing tools to support selling activities in the (Product Segment) group, in both the OEM and Aftermarket channels of distribution
- Identifies product features that deliver superior customer value, technological advantage or performance differentiation
- Utilization of computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including data entry, database management, and proficient in Microsoft Office software, especially Excel
Essential Functions:
- Must have a complete and thorough understanding of portfolio and product line management
- In conjunction with the Director of Sales define and implement a product marketing strategy that is effective and focused for the assigned product segment
- A complete understanding of CTP products and how they are marketed
- Create and maintain a competitive database including product information, pricing and marketing literature
- The ability to conduct market research and segmentation, following industry trends and drivers
- Act as a conduit for the sales team as it relates to operational and engineering interaction
- Previous demonstrated success in DFLS based product development process
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- BS/BA required or equivalent extensive, proven experience. Prefer a degree in marketing or a technical field. MBA a plus.
- Minimum three years experience in product management or a related field.
- Have the skill set required to problem solve and the analytical skills needed to help drive the decision making process
- Must have solid written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to make strong and persuasive presentations to the leadership of our organization as well as that of customers
- Must possess strong internal and external customer focus
- Practical knowledge of lean/six sigma strategies
- Proven track record of driving results and continuous improvement

- Be able to assume the role as a liaison between our customers and our internal functional areas including: the technical staff, quality, R&D, distribution as well as senior management
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be well versed in the software packages required to do the job effectively
- Must possess excellent organizational skills, have the ability to multi-task and be able to prioritize projects and assignments
- Must demonstrate the willingness to lead and influence without authority and take ownership of key projects and drive initiatives
- Should be someone who is goal driven and results oriented with the ability to set high goals and achieve results
- Must be a team player and a leader who is able to work in a cross-functional environment and influence people from other functional areas
- Have solid leadership, development and facilitation skills. Excellent Organizational skills and attention to detail.
