Job Description

With more than one hundred years of mining experience, our client offers a comprehensive range of goods and services for agriculture and industry and employs more than 14,000 people globally.  Building their workforce to support its development and ongoing operations expected in 2015, our client is now in need of a Safety Health & Environmental (SHE) Manager.

 

This person will be responsible for all aspects of the potash product screening and compaction production area.

 

The Role:

  • Develop and oversee the SHEM implementation plan, including site security, contractor management, emergency response and community interaction;
  • Undertake activities necessary to ensure regulatory compliance and reporting;
  • Supervise department staff; provide coaching and mentoring, set individual goals and objectives, direct their activities;
  • Act as senior SHE lead overseeing EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management)  and other contractors on site;
  • Participate as a member of the site management team: contribute to regular meetings, report on department progress, resolve cross functional issues to ensure that SHE requirements are achieved; and
  • Liaison and act as SHE lead with the general public, regulators and other communities of interest.

You and Your Experience:

  • You have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, civil, industrial);
  • You have your P.Eng. however we will consider other areas of certifications in environment, health and safety and project management;
  • You have a minimum of 10 years experience;
  • You have experience and specialized knowledge in safety health & environmental management systems;
  • You have worked in industrial operations, environmental and OHS legislation before;
  • Your problem solving, planning, forecasting, project implementation, decision making and, technical evaluation skills are strong;
  • You are an excellent communicator both in verbal and written form and are good at developing relationships; and
  • You are looked at as a strong leader who holds their team to accountability and are a strong mentor who can direct the work of your team in a fast paced environment.
