Our innovative digital reprographics client needs a contract Production Editor to prepare PDF, HTML, and online help from FrameMaker source files.
You'll work entirely onsite in Foster City proofing and providing production edits to (unstructured) FrameMaker content, checking links, generating PDFs and HTML help, burning CDs and DVDs, and posting to their intranet and FTP site. You'll also be heavily involved in project management: setting up production projects, scheduling with localization (L10N) vendors, tracking status, and arranging L10N support.
The document production environment consists of Windows XP, FrameMaker 7.2, WebWorks ePublisher, and Acrobat Professional, as well as FTP and link-checking tools.
The right match for this role is a quick learner, able to follow complex procedures without handholding, and a good troubleshooter of technical issues. It'll also help if you're an organized and unflappable project-manager and multi-tasker, and an articulate collaborator with writers, program managers, QA, and localization vendors.
This will be full-time (40 hours/week), fully onsite work in Foster City, lasting up to six months. You'd be paid on a 1099 basis, unless you prefer W2.
Required:
- Solid hands-on experience with FrameMaker
- Expert project-management skills
- Proficiency with Acrobat Pro and FTP
- Relevant, reachable references
- Full-time availability
- Ability to work in Foster City, CA (traveling at your own expense)
Desired:
- Working knowledge of WebWorks ePublisher
- Sharable, relevant before-and-after production-editing samples
- Exposure to content localization
