Our wireless technology client, located near Altadena, CA is looking for an individual for a Contract position to work on their Remote Radio Head (RRH) CPRI interface to an Alcatel Lucent (ALU) Base Station (BTS). You'll be working on the integration issues between the RRH and the BTS. This is leading edge work, and should be a joy for the right technologist.
Under minimal supervision, designs and upgrades digital signal processor FPGA firmware functions, PC based utilities and top level systems architecture definition. Develops and implements test plans independent of supervision. Generates and reviews design documentation in accordance with the Engineering Design Process (EDP). Manage technical projects to ensure adherence to target performance, cost and schedules. Introduce software designs to manufacturing/customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
: Design and implement FPGA firmware functions, function modifications and PC based test and customer utilities. Communicates and supervises transition of these designs to the Manufacturing group and customers.
: Performs integration design tasks of firmware into target systems.
: Develops and implements design verification test plans at unit and integration test levels. Generates detailed test reports including presentation of all data, introductions, conclusions and recommendations to a professional engineering standard.
: Implements without supervision, design verification test plans at system level. Generates detailed test reports including presentation of all data, introductions, conclusions, and recommendations to a professional engineering standard.
: Develops design documentation in accordance with requirements of the EDP to a professional engineering standard.
: Maintains comprehensive Engineering notebooks documenting all general technical activities. Provides direct line manager with weekly activity summary (activities accomplishments and issues) and records on time, and weekly hours per project.
: Provides technical support to manufacturing group for failure analysis, root cause and corrective action assessment, technical training and yield improvement efforts.
: Maintain knowledge of current technical advancements in the general field of FPGA Digital/DSP electronics commensurate with the Senior FPGA Engineering level by keeping up with current developments and trends in area of expertise.
: Manages technical project teams with primary responsibility for technical performance, cost and schedules, interfacing with customers, inside departments and outside vendors as needed.
: Provides technical lead and functional guidance on projects to other team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: BSEE or BSCS with strong emphasis on electrical engineering or a similar technical field or equivalent related experience.
Experience: 8+ or more years of related experience, with Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
: Strong verbal and written communication skills that clearly convey information and ideas. Ability to communicate in such a way to influence peers and management, as well as communicate well cross-functionally in a professional manner.
: Strong ability to use Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Visio software programs, to a level of professional proficiency. Able to produce professional Engineering reports including introductions, conclusions and recommendations.
: Strong ability to analyze and resolve technical problems of a complex nature quickly and independently.
: Ability to give meaningful presentations to design teams.
: Strong knowledge of programming languages including C/C++, Visual Basic and structured programming techniques and/or FPGA programming language, techniques and tools.
: Working knowledge of electronic design.
: Strong knowledge of micro-controller development requirements and the use of simulators, ICE debuggers and Integrated Development Environments.
: Knowledge of DSP controller development requirements and/or knowledge of ASIC architecture and development requirements.
: Strong RF and/or Digital lab skills.
: Ability to manage technical design from concept to validation including a test plan and methodology.
: Working knowledge of communication theory.
