Director of Human Resources

Our client is looking for a motivated Director of Human Resources with start up recruiting experience to join their Human Resources team.

Description:

As the primary Human Resource contact this individual will be instrumental in designing, developing and building the HR function within the Company. The HR Director will design, develop and manage human resources policies, programs and practices for this client. Maintain expertise of HR functions such as employee relations, employee benefits, training and employee events, recruitment and HR administration. The candidate will serve as a role-model to the organization in demonstrating this client's’ core values and standards. As a direct report to the CFO, the HR Director will be responsible for providing recommend solutions to the CFO. This candidate will help develop and drive our corporate culture, promotes diversity, achievement and inclusion and support community outreach and giving programs.

 

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Employee Relations:

  • Act as the primary Human Resources point of contact for employees on HR-related issues, answering questions regarding policies and procedures.

  • Help develop programs to foster adoption of desired corporate culture in concert with Senior Management.

  • Manage the onboarding, transition and termination processes for this client's employees.

  • Perform duties in employment, compensation, benefits, training and other related functions.

  • Manage performance evaluation system and review process.

  • Recommend, evaluate and draft policies and procedures as necessary.

 

Employee Benefits:

  • Oversee Employee Benefit Programs including ongoing reviewing, evaluating and recommending improvements to current benefits in order to best attract and retain employee talent.

  • Administer all aspects of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance and retirement.

  • Research new trends in employee benefits and make recommendations based on this research.

  • Ensure ERISA compliance.

 

HR Administration:

  • Develop and maintain HR related corporate policies and employee handbook.

  • Accurately maintain the company’s personnel files and records consisting of individual employee files, application and resume files, and benefit plan records.

  • Analyze and recommend systems to make record keeping optimally efficient.

  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations including: EEOC, AAP, EEO1, and VETS100, as appropriate.

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

 

 

 

Recruiting:

  • Create infrastructure to recruit employees. Initially, perform recruiting and build organization capable of supporting ongoing staff recruiting and growth.

  • Coordinate and communicate new hires to internal organization to ensure successful onboarding of employees.

  • Develop employee orientation program to successfully educate and integrate new employees into the company.

  • Create and maintain system for tracking candidates and recruiting contacts.

  • Conduct reference checks and request background and credit checks as necessary.

  • Post job advertisements on the client's’ homepage and various external sites as deemed necessary by the hiring manager.

  • Conduct preliminary telephone interviews and recommend top candidates for consideration.

  • Conduct in-person interviews with top candidates. Issue offer letters and new hire packets to prospective employees.

 

Training and Employee Events:

  • Create and implement organizational training and employee development efforts. ( Frequency, Scale, Scope)

  • Coordinate quality employee events for building a cohesive corporate culture.

  • Work on various employee projects throughout the year.

 

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 8-12 years’ experience in a progressively responsible generalist position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field from an accredited university.

  • PHR certification strongly preferred.

  • Broad knowledge of HR principles, techniques and procedures.

  • Excellent knowledge of HR operations and administration.

  • Prior success in creating and maintaining strong corporate culture and identity.

  • Requires knowledge of local, state and federal employment law and basic principles of human resources.

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Internet.

  • Team player capable of building relationships across the organization.

  • Strong customer service orientation, project management and follow through skills.

  • Must be able to maintain total discretion and confidentiality at all times.
