Accounting and Compliance:
· Providing the senior management team with a clear picture of OUR CLIENT?s financial performance, health, and fundraising progress.
· Managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely and efficient monthly close cycles
· Participating in semi-annual process for sub-grantee selection.
· Being the primary contact with financial committee of the board of directors, including managing monthly reporting meetings.
· Refining OUR CLIENT?s financial infrastructure and management, including long-term forecasting and budgeting procedures, cash flow management, and board reporting.
· Enhance OUR CLIENT?s fund accounting (and possibly transitioning to a new software solution) to manage and track OUR CLIENT?s various revenues and expenses across its investment and program initiatives.
· Ensuring that OUR CLIENT meets all financial and regulatory compliance mandates; including annual 990 tax filing, financial and federal audits, and federal grant reporting.
Operations:
· Ensure appropriate systems and processes for operational management, including those related to legal, consulting contracts, and technology vendors.
REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:
This is an outstanding opportunity to play an integral role in education reform in New Orleans. Therefore, first

This candidate must:
· Possess a CPA or equivalent certification;
· Bring at least 10 years work experience, including 5 or more years of accounting and management experience;
· Demonstrate the ability to lead and effect change in a fluid, unstructured, entrepreneurial environment without formal authority;
· Be flexible and have the ability to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed;
· Have experience creating, implementing, and/or revising sustainable, efficient and scalable systems and processes to support a growing organization, particularly one which administers grants;
· Possess the executive presence to lead, inspire and help develop a high performing team;
· Demonstrate strong detail orientation;
· Have a high degree of integrity and ethics; and

Additionally, ideal candidates would have:
· Experience in a start-up environment;
· Professional knowledge of urban public education;
· Non-profit accounting experience; and
· Familiarity with New Orleans.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Managing Director of Accounting and Finance will report to the Chief Strategy Officer. This role will directly manage the Director of Accounting, Grants Accounting Manager and Grants Project Manager.
COMPENSATION:
Compensation for the position is highly competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition to highly competitive salary ranges, OUR CLIENT provides a comprehensive compensation package that meets or exceeds that level o f benefits provided by many of the most respected organizations in our industry.
