Job Description

This leading mining consultancy firm that provides services exclusively to the minerals sector prides itself on Global Expertise. With offices located throughout Australia, Canada and the UK their global expertise is demonstrated through successes on various projects including Iron Ore deposits in Australia and Zinc/Lead deposits in Russia. In the Mining and Resources industry they work with clients for pre-feasibility studies, mine development or improving operations of existing mines. As a result of growth they currently have a job opportunity for offices located in Vancouver.

With a primary focus on optimum output and maximum return they are seeking a driven and motivated Principal Resource Geologist to join their Vancouver team.

This role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to mentor and lead a team of Geologists in the area of Resource Modeling. Being part of a management structure that reports to the Regional Manager you will be responsible for the guidance and motivation of the Resource Geology team. Geological consultants use the most up to date Geostatistical and Modeling software, therefore you will be strong in the use of software modeling programs. With this, you will have demonstrated knowledge in Wireframe modeling, Ore body visualization, and Ore body modeling methods. With previous experience in Open-Pit and/ or Underground Mining you will be responsible for activities including but not limited to, drilling program design and data capture, resource modeling and estimation, and statistical and Geostatistical analysis. As the Principal Resource Geologist a key role will be ensuring appropriate standards are set and maintained for areas such as geological interpretations, and resource modeling and estimation.

Your passion for managing people and your drive for success will enable you to overcome unique challenges in this role. As a business leader you will be familiar with National and International reporting standards such as JORC code, NI 43 – 101, SAMREC Code, etc. In this role, it is essential to have the ability to manage multiple projects at once and successfully manage small teams.

To be successful in this role you will utilize your University Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or a related field and hold a P.Geo Designation. To this position you will bring 15 years of resource estimation experience and be proficient with Vulcan, Datamine, MineSight or similar. In addition, you will have an understanding of QA-QC requirements for drilling and underground programs and have excellent communication skills. This role will involve mentoring others and building and maintaining client relationships. Resource Modeling specialists with less experience may apply to be considered for junior and intermediate roles.
