Job Description:

 

Overseeing the daily activities of the estimating staff, the Senior Estimator ensures that all work activities are completed in an efficient and effective manner. The tasks associated with this position include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and supervising office estimating staff.
  • Acting as a team player to determine bidding opportunities; aid with resource allocation and planning of work.
  • Calculating estimate take-offs from tender drawings, reviewing specifications, and sourcing material and/or subcontractor prices.
  • Attend tender site visits and interact with Clients during tendering phase.
  • Prepare estimates using estimating software.
  • Prepare pre-qualification and/or tender submissions and present to Clients.
  • Assist on-site project management teams with project kick-off activities; provide engineering support as required.
Education:

The ideal candidate will have a degree/diploma in Civil Engineering/Technology from a recognized institution.

St. John's (Newfoundland and Labrador), Long Harbour (Newfoundland and Labrador)

Job Qualifications:

 

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience working in a Heavy Civil Environment and the following experience: 

  • Working with concrete foundations and mass reinforced concrete structures.
  • Earthwork experience relating to foundations/structures and dam/dyke construction.
  • Familiar with estimating software such as BID2WIN.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Familiar with using scheduling software, such as Primavera and Microsoft Project.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Personal initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
