The successful candidate will maintain the plant located in the Charlotte/Monroe, NC area. The ideal candidate will reside on the south side of Charlotte, NC between Rock Hill, SC and Monroe, NC.
JOB SUMMARY
The Standard Plant Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon producing plants in the Charlotte/Monroe, NC area. The technician is responsible for the safety, reliability, quality, and profitability of this plant. This is a challenging and rewarding job that requires sound technical abilities in the primary SPO product lines, along with instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems. The Standard Plant Technician must demonstrate initiative in handling issues. The Standard Plant Technician must be on call.
SCOPE
Employees in this role solve field site issues and may be required to provide instruction, guidance and work direction to other Standard Plant Technicians while having their own plant to maintain. Makes decisions which require coordination of interrelated tasks. Develops conceptual solutions to moderately difficult, non-routine issues/problems and provides guidance on technical leadership of projects.
REPORTS TO
Typically reports to a Team Lead or Operations Supervisor.
DIRECT REPORTS
May be required to train and lead entry level Standard Plant Technicians
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.) Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gas analyzers, electrical controls systems and pneumatic control valves.
2.) Manage own time to accomplish operations and maintenance tasks for the plant which includes trouble-shooting, diagnosing and solving plant problems
3.) Coordinate contractors and resources (Reliability Center, Logistics, PTC Engineering) to support the plant activities, audits and all administrative requirements for the plant.
4.) Assist with training and development of new Standard Plant Technicians.
Requirements:
EDUCATION
High School Degree required
Associate's degree in a technical field preferred
EXPERIENCE
2 - 5 years of Operations experience required

WORKING CONDITIONS
In addition to being able to sit, stand, climb, walk, read, talk, and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Extensive walking and bending; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. On-call 24 hrs/day, 7 days/week. Must carry cell phone and laptop computer for immediate availability.
