This role requires a service oriented mentality, ability to test and plan in advance of need. A strong sense of ownership of the tasks and challenges that arise in this quickly growing environment is critical. The Database Administrator role is responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, helping define service related processes (e.g: database backups, maintenance, monitoring), and be able to provide reports on the status as needed to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs.
Position Requirements:
Has 5+ years of experience in database management and systems support in scalable 3-tier application
environments
Ability to detect and troubleshoot system CPU, memory, I/O, disk space as well as resource and lock
contention
Strong experience in Database Administration with MySQL
Solid knowledge of Linux (Red Hat preferred) servers and storage components
Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and
deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, using performance management tools, SQL profilers
and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Strong knowledge of backup, restore and recovery processes and experience in implementing operational
automation
Strong knowledge of indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration and patching
Knowledge of database statistics, index storage and effective management
Knowledge of MySQL tools including MySQL Enterprise
Knowledge of SQL Development – ability to troubleshoot SQL code and design (queries, stored procedures,
functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
Ability to manage remote hosting and remote technicians (hosting personnel, consultants, etc.)
