Job Overview: 


As a Software Test Engineer Supervisor you will be focused on managing a team of Software Test Engineers to deliver high quality service releases of Concur’s integrated travel and expense management solutions. You will define and manage career development paths for staff. You will manage a team of individuals with varied skill sets to achieve business goals. You will work with cross-functional teams to define and execute processes for successful service releases. You will be responsible for mentorship and training of test engineers. This role is ideal for individuals with good cross-functional skills who would like to develop their managerial skills and technical aptitude to manage highly diverse and successful teams.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide effective leadership and management to a team of Software Test Engineers
  • Manage staff in multiple geographically different locations
  • Define and manage personnel development plans
  • Provide individual performance evaluations
  • Mentor test engineers to ensure skills are adequate to perform assigned roles
  • Promote teamwork and be seen as the leader of the software test process
  • Be aware of business objectives and their impact to the company, and be accountable for decisions made within the team
  • Make appropriate trade-offs when necessary
  • Champion approved methodologies, processes and tools
  • Create test schedules, assign work, and supervise testers
  • Assist and lead test engineers with complex issues on testing approach, product design, product implementation, and other technical matters
  • Organize internal and/or external training
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategy, design and technical issues
  • Serve as communicator between cross-functional teams regarding project status, process changes, and product capabilities
  • Build on your knowledge of QA processes, tools and methodologies
  • Build on knowledge of building and managing high effective teams
  • Occasionally work off hours during production releases
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Be aware of, and comply with, all corporate policies

 

Education, Experience & Training required:

 

  • BA/BS or equivalent years of work experience required
  • 4+ years’ of project lead or 1+ years’ Software Quality Assurance managerial experience

    • Demonstrated understanding of software development processes
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage work to meet deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective follow up systems to ensure timely and accurate handling of information requests
    • Possess effective communications skills, focusing on presentation of technical information
  • Knowledge of SQL and Database access stored procedures
  • Experience with Selenium or other object oriented/Java based test automation tool is preferred
  • Proficient on the Windows platform
  • Team leader with strong testing, defect finding, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to pass a background check
