Assistant Commercial Manager- 35-40k- Bradford- Engineering
WJ Partners are recruiting urgently for an Assistant Commercial Manager for an Engineering company in Bradford.
Purpose of the job The Commercial Department consists of the Commercial Manager, Assistant Commercial Manager, Project Managers and Project Administrators. The Assistant Commercial Manager shall ensure that the systems and processes of the Commercial Department and supporting commercial documentation are administered as effectively as possible.
The Assistant Commercial Manager will also provide effective scrutiny of potential legal contractual obligations to balance business risks with commercial opportunities and mentor and educate members of other departments to improve their commercial knowledge and effectiveness.
Reports to Commercial Manager
Responsible for Project Administrators
•Support the Commercial Manager as required in the identification and management of commercial risk within the business.
•Maintain and control a central library of commercial documentation, original Purchase Orders, Insurance Certificates, Forms of Contract and Terms and Conditions of Purchase.
•Take part in relevant regular meetings required to support the defining, planning, monitoring, controlling, handover and closeout activities of the Commercial Department.
•Provide members of the Commercial Department with any required support activities relating to commercial matters and documentation e.g. Letters of Credit, Agency Agreements, Insurance, Certificates of Origin, Bank Guarantees, Vesting Certificates etc
•Review and negotiate Terms and Conditions with both customers and suppliers, ensuring that the contractual terms negotiated are, in all cases, within applicable guidelines.
•Mentor, develop and educate other departments in commercial issues and play an active role in advising on relevant commercial issues both prior and post Order award
•Support the Commercial Manager in maintaining and reviewing the processes and structures of the Commercial Department and in defining, developing and maintaining the Commercial Policy document
•Support the Commercial Manager as required in negotiating potential claims and minimising any adverse financial impact
•Provide commercial support for other departments as required
•Manage the day to day activities of the Project Administrators
Employment, Educational & Professional Background
The ideal candidate will have experience in a financial and/or commercial environment and should be able to demonstrate relevant experience to a similar level.
You must have worked within an Engineering or Manufacturing company.
A good educational background, preferably to degree level.

8am – 4pm Monday –Friday
