An innovative, independent software company in Cambridgeshire, who provide industry- leading technology for the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors have ambitious growth plans, and are therefore looking for an extremely capable graduate/ experienced candidate to join the team as a C# application developer. Due to winning a large contract, the company is looking to double in size over the next year.

The company work with all the oil majors, providing easy-to use powerful software for crude oil selection and refinery modeling. The company’s clients rely heavily on the software, through interactive desktop and web interfaces, or integrated into their other tools and processes.

The company’s suite of tools is in its fifth generation. They are developed using Visual Studio 2010 in C++ and C# using MFC and .NET. They feature an intuitive and rich user interface designed to make the system accessible to new users and provide for experts.

From the initial design stages, application developers work closely with both internal sector experts and client representatives, ensuring that the product is industry-leading by taking account of work practices and user perspectives.

This role is open to graduates and experienced candidates with a strong engineering, scientific or mathematical background. Most importantly, the company is looking for people who are bright, enthusiastic, and self-motivated, and have a sound eye for user interface design. Commercial experience is not necessary (although highly beneficial), and the company will be happy to accept someone who has built the necessary skills as part of a university course.  

Required:

• Excellent knowledge of C# with .NET API
• Experience of developing custom controls
• Experience of Windows user interface development
• Strong engineering, scientific or mathematical degree and background
• Desirable experience includes: c++ using MFC, WPF, STL/ Boost, experience of developing scientific or engineering software.
