Responsibilities

• Deep understanding of Java and SQL (Oracle)  and can produce code that is robust, performs well and is reusable
• Strong and recent hands-on experience with Core Java, J2EE, EJBs, and Java Patterns
• Develops to standards and understands the impact of changes across the product
• Must have worked on highly-transactional multi-threaded systems
• Experience writing functional tests
• Works to deadlines and can escalate issues effectively
• Discusses aspects of the design with the architect, team lead and business analysts to check understanding and raise concerns
• Provides production support and can resolve issues when required
• Must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable within a banking environment

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc educated
• 4+ years Java and 2+ years JEE (extensive JMS), which must be recent
• 2+ years Oracle or other RDBMS experience
• 1+ years XML
• Must have experience of Application Servers. WebLogic or WebSphere is desirable
• Experience with payments or banking is desirable, but not essential
• Positive attitude and willingness to seek out information*
