Primary Purpose Provide engineering related design, analysis, and studies for domestic or international projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Electrical engineer with experience in designing the retrofit of older transmission and distribution stations with new SCADA for utility clients.

 

 

Experience in designing the retrofit of DCS systems at power generation plants for SCADA would be a plus.

SCADA responsibility will be from legacy station devices all the way to the master SCADA.

This includes recommending interface device for legacy station systems, possible upgrade of station devices, modems, leased lines acquisition, circuit routing over existing client facilities, interface design of leased lines at the master SCADA, possible LAN/WAN circuit configuration at the master SCADA.

Experience required in retrofitting electro-mechanical relays with microprocessor based relays in existing substations.
Experience desired in Ethernet networking, serial communications, and multi-drop communications.

Experience desired with programming of microprocessor based relays.
Previous experience working with utilities engineering, perations, and testing departments is considered a plus.

 

Candidate must be knowledgeable in transmission line, transformer and distribution protection and control, as well as metering methods.

Experience is required in upgrading distribution system protection and control (IPAC).

Candidate must have leadership experience in being the main engineering contact with clients.

Experience should include contact with client project engineer, automation engineer and document clerks.

It should also include experience in working with representatives for leased line providers.

Ability to lead scoping walkdowns of targeted facilities with client automation engineer and draft conceptual designs for retrofits. Prepare scope documents for client approval.

Upon final detailed design completion, lead final design reviews with client.

Provide field engineering support during construction including resolution of issues and concerns.

Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements

 

Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 8 years of experience performing protection and control engineering related duties, as well as management duties.

The applicant must have the ability to work in a team environment to meet schedule deadlines and budget targets.

Also, attention to detail with good communication, skills both written and verbal, is required.
