PROGRAMMER ANALYST II BIOINFORMATICS

The Position

Genentech's Research division seeks individuals with strong software development skills

combined with excellent communication abilities todevelop solutions to challenging

problems in research. The role offers theunique ability to work on all aspects of software

development in close contactwith the users. Successful candidates will have a

demonstrated track record ofsuccessful software development projects, preferably in a

scientific environment. The ability to thrive in a challenging, dynamic, and team

orientedenvironment is critical.


Who you are

Applicants should have a scientific degree (computerscience, software engineering,

biology, computational biology, etc.) and atleast 5 years of experience. The successful

candidate should be fluent inseveral programming languages, especially Java (including

J2EE, GWT, Swing, andweb programming frameworks), SQL and PL/SQL, Javascript and

other web technologies. Applicants should be aware of and interested in exploring new

technologies and should have experience in web development and interface design.The

successful candidate should have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and

be able to work independently
