Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • To lead and develop a robust technical solution to meet the requirements of the customer by producing a compliant bid
  • To optimise the technical solution and maintain the appropriate balance between risk and efficiency
  • To ensure that Senior Management are appraised on project issues, solution, deal and process
  • To liaise with the relevant stakeholders to ensure they understand the opportunities, agree with the technical solution and can deliver the commitments being made in the bid
  • Identify opportunities that support the Business Plan and prepare and present Board papers in line with the Gate Review process
  • Support to the bid management team to ensure a thorough understanding of the proposed solution and customer needs
  • Managing the bids in line with the Company’s corporate governance policies, processes, procedures, including those related to Health and Safety

    Additional accountabilities:
  • Have a thorough understanding of the market, its players and customer procuring procedures
  • Map, develop and maintain relationships with all key external stakeholders (customers, partners, suppliers); manage customer relationship through to transition to the delivery management team
  • Maintain excellent relationships with internal contacts to ensure maximum leverage of existing contracts/customers
  • Develop close working relationships with other internal Major Bid Team members to share best practice and improve governance
  • Accountable for reporting timely and appropriate management information for business review purposes in line with Company corporate governance


Qualifications & Requirements:

Knowledge, Qualification and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant industry experience
    Membership of professional body
  • Significant knowledge of the Defence industry and or working with military customers and the Ministry of Defence preferred not essential
  • Demonstrable experience of bidding or managing large, complex vehicle and asset programmes
  • Has an extensive and established network in the UK and International Defence markets

    Skills & Competencies
    Technical
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to motivate and lead multi-functional teams particularly in a matrix management approach
  • Experience in bid writing to respond to EOI, PQQ and ITT documentation including document and data configuration management
  • Early identification of business and corporate risks
  • Champions the role of programme and project management in the organisation and maintains an effective relationship with the relevant experts
  • Uses long term innovative thinking and networking to stimulate new opportunities or solutions
  • Experience in MoD procurement and major programme management
