Job Description:

The Citrix Engineer candidate will be supporting the following:

• Duties include leading enterprise platform architectural engineering solution design whiteboard sessions for Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)  solutions in order to design and facilitate implementation of a US government data center’s VDI infrastructure within a private cloud.  This is also referred to “As a Service (aaS)” solutions.  The government that Workplace as a Service (WPaaS) be implemented using Citrix-based products. 

The WPaaS solution incorporates Windows, Linux, Citrix, VMware 5.0, vCloud Director integrated with EMC + NetApp + HP storage systems with features such as “thin provisioning”, Virtual storage provisioning, single console storage management & reporting, and designing replication to a remote government data center.  The data center already uses EMC, Hitachi, IBM, NetApp and HP storage products, and senior platform level expertise is needed to manage a team of server platform engineers in the process of solutioning and implementing customer migrations. 

• Validate Citrix platform system requirements to ensure alignment prior to moving into production.
• Execute Citrix VDI projects by designing the platform solution, providing guidance and expertise based on years of experience leading technical facets of datacenter-sized Citrix projects.
• Author documentation that include design specifications, requirement traceability matrix, Visio diagram, test and acceptance plans, and step-by-step implementation build documents with platform specifications.
• Use best practice policies and procedures to address issues found by data center staff in order to avoid similar future issues – continuous improvement.
• Interact with other IT and project teams in a collaborative way to continuously improve; interact with external vendors including Hardware and Software vendors
• Resolve technical and/or project issues at the application level by interacting with application engineers.
• Manage design and implementation of current Citrix, Citrix Netscaler, and related tasks at the application level.

Qualifications: 

The candidate should possess experience in virtualization design and implementation, using VMware technologies such as VMware ESX 5.0 and VSphere, VMware Virtual Center, VMware View (View Manager, View Administrator, View Composer, View Client, View Connection Server), Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) backup, and Vsphere 4.0+ including Physical to Virtual (P2V) Migrations and must have experience with common and uncommon ESX problems. 

The candidate should possess experience in Windows 2003/2008, Active Directory, and hardware platforms.  The candidate must be familiar with VMware ESX and Microsoft Windows best practices and policies. Knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions using Citrix is also needed.

 Experience with Solaris, Red Hat Linux and IBM AIX is a plus.

Other Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering

Ability to obtain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Suitability Clearance (Entrance on Duty (EOD))

DoD Secret or Top Secret is a plus

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification a plus
