Position Overview: 
We are looking for a result-oriented, proactive, and creative individual to be part of our strong software engineering team. This individual will play an active role in all aspects of software development. Requires 2+ years of software development experience on Internet commerce applications using Java, SQL, and J2EE technologies. Good written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as an ability to develop evolving business requirements into a software solution. 

Responsibilities: 
• Contribute to the technical design efforts of various initiatives for Hotwire’s e-commerce applications (www.hotwire.com, www.travel-ticker.com), ensuring the system design meets scalability and performance requirements
• Lead or participate in the implementation (e.g., coding, testing, debugging) effort
•Present technical issues and their business impact to management
•May need to interface with 3rd parties on technical designs and issues
•Actively mentor software engineers technically

Qualifications: 
•Solid experience with object-oriented design and development using Java
•Proficiency with SQL and Oracle databases
•Excellent verbal and written skills, with proven ability to communicate complex ideas
•Ability to write clean, coherent code, and to follow established coding style guidelines
•Results-oriented and proactive with proven leadership skills

Work Experience and Education Guidelines: 
•BS and/or MS in Computer Science
•2+ years of software development experience
•Experience at other fast-paced Internet companies, especially Travel companies, a big plus
•Recent experience building highly scalable enterprise system a big plus
•Experience with the following technologies is a big plus: Travel GDS’s (e.g. SABRE, ITA, etc.), Spring, Mockito, Selenium, distributed caching, JMS, web services, XML, Perl or other scripting language
