Java / Web / Reports Developer

Overview:

• The Java / Web Developer role fills an open developer position in our Agency (Incentive) Compensation Transformation (aka ACT) Initiative.  The Java, Web, and Reports Developer will have responsibility to:
  • learn the chosen vendor packaged software applications comprising of the solution architecture
  • own the end-to-end design, development, testing, and deployment of Web Forms and Reports that meet or exceed business requirements.
  • work with business users to elicit and confirm requirements
  • document component functional and technical specifications
  • develop test plans, including test cases, expected results, and data
  • unit and system integration test execution, and defect resolution
  • document and communicate project status regularly to Project Management

  Qualifications:

  Experience/Skills:

  • At least 5 – 7 Years of IT experience, with 3+ years experience serving in a developer capacity delivering Java-based solutions, User Interfaces, and Reports.  Specific skill/competency requirements include:
    • Expertise in Javascript / ASP / JSP
    • Expertise in HTML
    • Strong SQL background
    • Experience with User Interface / Screen implementation
    • Experience with implementing custom reports, and with reporting tools such as Crystal or Business Objects
    • Ability to translate functional requirements into technical terms and assist with the detailed technical design
    • The ability to work and collaborate with software vendor resources
    • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications
    • Strong Analytical and Problem Solving skills
    • Strong knowledge of end-to-end software delivery lifecycle concepts and different methodologies
    • Ability to work independently with minimal assistance /supervision
    • Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written, and at a functional and technical level
    • Strong documentation skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Insurance industry experience strongly preferred
    • Experience with Serena source code control would be a plus.

  Education:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
