Job Description

 

SUMMARY:

It is the responsibility of the Mechanical Drafter to provide complete, accurate engineering drawings and documentation for all company products, with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

Makes necessary drawings, parts lists, estimate sheets, bills of material and other draftsperson duties.

Drafts and revises, two and three dimensional mechanical drawings including, but not limited to:

: Detail

: Assembly

: Layout

: Sales

: Parts List

: Catalog

: Fixture

: Sketch

Designs three dimensional (3D) models, for use in two dimensional (2D) parametric drawing views, and rendered artwork for Marketing purposes.

Verifies the contents of the drawings are accurate and complete.

Obtains and documents necessary measurements or observations in the production areas.

Documents engineering drawing information and revision history.

Researches product history and background to compile data for use in drawings.

Maintains thorough records of all changes in the Company's ERP and communicates these changes to appropriate departments in a timely manner.

Completes project goals timely as assigned, and provides periodic updates.

Makes component movement, linkage and vector layout studies in the course of design work, to eliminate interference. Selects fits and makes tolerance studies as required.

Complies with all internal standards and processes.

Offers ways to improve a process within department CAD system.

Assists the Information Technology Department as required for Mechanical Drafting issues.

 

Education and/or Experience

Associates Degree in Mechanical Drafting or Drafting field and at least two (2) years of drafting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience using a current version of ProE is preferred..

Ability to read technical drawings/blueprints is required.

A thorough knowledge of Engineering Department concepts, policies and procedures including drafting standards is required.
