Profile

Our client is a global defence and aerospace contractor who supply sophisticated technological solutions worldwide. Over the last decade they have grown both organically and via acquisition and look to increase their engineering resource to accommodate future expansion plans.

Purpose

Head of Programme will lead, develop, co-ordinate and deliver all allocated engineering development activities from concept, through development to unit production build, and operational acceptance ensuring customer satisfaction and delivery of business financial commitments.

Role

*Management of allocated programme of work to deliver agreed customer requirements whilst delivering identified business benefits.

*Set clear objectives for allocated programme and develop and enthuse a clear vision of success both internally and externally.

*Management of all allocated projects within the programme to time and cost.

*Development of close, long term customer relationships and maintenance of appropriate stakeholder management plans to ensure the continued development and success of allocated programme of work.

*Provision of management information reporting on progress both internally and externally.

*Development and maintenance of viable plans to achieve programme objectives and customer commitments at all times.

*Maintain a clear, comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities for the allocated programme and a clear understanding of necessary actions to follow up as appropriate.

*Leading bid preparation activities as required.

*Provide overall leadership to the identified programme resources and ensure that a suitable long term view of programme resource requirements is maintained.

*Advocate the continual development and improvement of business offerings and lead the programme team to develop creative solutions.

 Experience and Qualifications

 *Proven ability and experience in the successful development and delivery of large engineering development programmes, ideally in the defence arena.

*Significant experience dealing with prime contractors.

*Demonstrable commercial acumen and negotiating skills.

*Degree in an appropriate Engineering/Technical discipline.

*Broad and relevant engineering experience.

*Highly proficient with appropriate Integrated Project Management tools and techniques.

*Excellent communication skills and a well organised, robust, self motivated team player.

*Experience of balancing varying, conflicting and dynamic business priorities to ensure continued business success.

*Experience of managing projects at all stages of the engineering development life cycle from initial bid, through launch and development and in to production
