Life Technologies has an immediate need for a Senior Financial Analyst to support our Manufacturing Plant located in Frederick, MD.
Position Objective
Key member of the Frederick manufacturing site which supports $100M+ in revenue and is a center of excellence within Life Technologies. Member of the corporate Manufacturing Finance team with responsibilities for supporting all product manufacturing in Frederick. Key initiatives are to be a key financial partner with manufacturing managers and to drive advanced financial analysis resulting in continued cost improvement initiatives and productivity. This position manages monthly, quarterly and interim actual reporting, financial forecasting, capital, and other relevant key manufacturing metrics for the manufacturing plant. Cost accounting functions are supported by the corporate Manufacturing Accounting organization.
Essential Functions
Reporting of monthly financial results of plant performance to Frederick manufacturing operations staff as well as to Life Tech Mfg finance lead and Life Tech Manufacturing VP. Provide cost center financial budgeting and planning/analysis support. Partner with manufacturing finance peers to set key dates and deliverables for period-end close, budgeting, productivity and capital tracking.
Participate in site S&OP process and lead transition of financial initiatives planned at the corporate level to the site. Participate in regular meetings with related sales, product mgmt, and manufacturing operations teams.
Assist in the analysis of financial data; interpret data for the purpose of determining past and future financial performance. Ability to perform complex forecast models for cost and able to articulate various cost levels to senior finance and business leaders.
Provide tools and analytics to report plant manufacturing financials into business unit performance metrics.
Extract financial data from various finance and information systems. Perform analysis of data reported in the various financial systems, specifically JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, EDW, Hyperion and Essbase.
Use various software applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and reports.
Perform other ad-hoc analysis and related duties as required and/or assigned.
Nature and Scope
*Must possess a thorough understanding of manufacturing accounting and finance as well as manufacturing best practices and supply chain processes
*Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
*Financial modeling skills using advanced Excel functions that support projects and processes, including sensitivity analysis and contingency planning.
*In depth financial statement understanding and how they relate to the site.
*Advanced financial analysis which includes, make vs. buy, break even points, capacity calculations, discounted cash flow analysis on projects with multiple inputs and prioritization, sensitivity analysis with regards to forecast, and the ability to manage leverage favorably.
*Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of company employees. Must demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers as well as handle confidential and proprietary information.
*Job encounters recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm (ambiguity), involving some degree of complexity.
*Accuracy is required in performing all functions in this position. Providing timely, accurate, relevant information, recommendations, and analysis is a must. Ability to extract key message from various data sources is a must.
*Self-initiative and organization skills are extremely valuable to ensure a smooth office operation.
*Must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, a positive attitude and ability to perform as a team player. Must possess problem solving skills and results orientation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent is required. MBA preferred.
Experience Requirements
*Minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience of budgeting, planning and managing financial reporting in a matrixed manufacturing organization.
*Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint a must.
*Prior life science/biotech industry experience a plus
*Experience in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne highly desirable.
*Experience with Cognos, Hyperion, Essbase, SAP a plus.
*APICS and LEAN training a plus.
